Specifically, Brie Larson made a post on Twitter referencing child actress Shirley Temple that has social media blasting the MCU star.
The social media post made consists of two photos. One photo with Larson as a curly-haired child, and the other with her as a present-day adult. There isn’t much context given elsewhere, only the following caption:

It’s this post on Twitter, that implies Brie Larson is somehow better than the late Shirley Temple, that has social media in an uproar. Everyone is taking turns pointing out how successful Shirley Temple’s career was in comparison, which included some astounding political accolades. Then they had fun pointing out how confusing Larson’s caption was. In fact, everyone seems perplexed as to what Larson is trying to imply – not to mention why she would choose a beloved child star of all people to throw shade at.

It really is surprising to see Brie Larson make a post like this – especially one that seemingly comes out of nowhere. The actress seemed to be doing pretty well for herself, with several Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances on the way and a great exercise routine to go with them. Fans were responding quite well to her videos and photos about working out, and many found inspiration in them. So it definitely is disappointing to see Larson once again at the center of controversy. And especially for something so strange as throwing shade at beloved Shirley Temple.
