Although the DCEU has so far mostly tackled DC’s more popular characters, fans will soon see the brand expand with some interesting choices next year. For example, fans will be getting to see an all-new Blue Beetle movie on the big screen. Now that production on the film is currently underway, the first behind-the-scenes photos have been revealed. Fans can now see star Xolo Maridueña, who plays Jaime Reyes aka the superhero Blue Beetle, in his signature suit.
It’s a great looking superhero suit and fans certainly agree. As noted below, they’ve been sharing the costume across social media with nothing but hype and excitement to go along with it. While the film was originally intended to be released on HBO Max, Warner Bros ended up moving the film for a theatrical release instead. Now, given the positive support from fans online, it’s clear that they made the right decision.

With this being our first look at the upcoming film, we should hopefully have more glimpses at the project in the near future. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on Blue Beetle as we have them. Now that the movie has shifted towards a theatrical release, this should be an even more exciting DCEU film to keep an eye on.
Angel Manuel Soto is directing the film from a screenplay written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
Xolo Maridueña stars as the titular character with Harvey Guillén, Bruna Marquezine as Penny, and Belissa Escobedo as Milagro Reyes. The cast also stars George Lopez as Uncle Rudy, Adrianna Barraza as Nana, Elpidia Carrillo as Rocio, and Damián Alcázar as Alberto.
Blue Beetle is set to be released theatrically on August 18, 2023 after Warner Bros decided not to release it as a HBO Max exclusive.
