Rapper And Actor Coolio Dead At 59

Fans have loved Coolio and his music since the 1990’s. Unfortunately, it’s sadly been revealed that Coolio is confirmed dead at age 59.

As revealed via TMZ, “paramedics were called to a house in Los Angeles around 4 PM for a medical emergency and when they got there they pronounced Coolio dead.” It appears that he was busy visiting a friend on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 28. As noted by TMZ via Coolio’s manager, he “went to the bathroom at his friend’s house, but when he didn’t come out after a while … the friend kept calling for him, and eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor.”

In response to the situation, the friend called EMTs, “who arrived and pronounced Coolio dead on the scene.” His agent said that the EMTs believe Coolio suffered cardiac arrest. However, an official cause of death has yet to be released as of this writing. It appears that “no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene of Coolio’s death.”

It’s been further noted that “an autopsy and toxicology test will be used to determine an official cause of death.” This is certainly a sad announcement. Coolio made a massive name for himself with such hits as Gangsta’s Paradise which quickly became his signature hit. He’s also appeared in a number of films, including quite a few horror titles, such as notable franchise sequel Leprechaun in the Hood, The Convent where he had a role alongside Bill Moseley, and the 2004 Darrell Roodt film Dracula 3000.

Coolio, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., is survived by his six children as well as his ex-wife, Josefa Salina. The two stayed married for four years beginning in 1996. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the situation as we have them. As for now, however, it’s worth respecting the privacy of his friends and family.
