Blumhouse Reveals Director For ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Movie

The Five Nights at Freddy’s video game horror franchise has become incredibly popular over the years. Now, after a history of false starts, the long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s adaptation is nearly ready to begin production. It’s now been announced that Emma Tammi will direct the new film adaptation for Blumhouse.

As revealed via THR, Emma Tammi will “direct the horror thriller, which is in pre-production for an early 2023 start of principal photography.” This is exciting news for fans that have been eager for updates regarding the horror film project. In fact, after similar projects such as Willy’s Wonderland and The Banana Splits Movie were produced, it became increasingly frustrating for fans. But rest assured – Five Nights at Freddy’s is finally happening and it’s just about guaranteed to give those other films a run for their money.

For example, it’s been further revealed that “Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is already working alongside Blumhouse to bring the game’s favorite animatronic characters to life.” Horror fans love practical effects. And, knowing that the practical animatronics for the film will be made by none other than Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, it’s a no-brainer that this will have an edge over those other projects. Jason Blum also had the following announcement to give regarding the project. As he explained, he’s “thrilled to confirm it’s finally happening!” Here’s what he had to say in full down below:

“Five Nights at Freddy’s is more consistently asked about than any other film I’ve ever worked on, and I’m thrilled to confirm it’s finally happening!” said Blumhouse head, Jason Blum, in a statement. “With Emma Tammi at the helm, we’re committed to making Scott’s vision of the movie come to life. Rest assured, it will be and is worth the wait.”

The screenplay for the film was written by video game creator Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback. Blumhouse will produce the film in association with Striker Entertainment. Scott Cawthon and Jason Blum are attached as producers while Russell Binder will executive produce.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on this highly-anticipated project as we have them. It’s definitely going to be a great time next year when principal photography finally begins.
