Marvel fans have been anxiously waiting for Mephisto to finally enter the MCU. After all, with recent projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or Werewolf by Night headed into more supernatural territory, it’s becoming increasingly likely we’ll see Mephisto soon. Now a new report suggests that the character might finally have an actor attached – and even what project we can expect to see him in.
As noted via Deadline, there is speculation “that Sacha Baron Cohen has entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” As for what project he’s expected to appear in? It’s none other than the Disney Plus series Ironheart. The new series will be centered on Riri Williams, a character that will be introduced in the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And, while it hasn’t been confirmed what character Cohen could be playing in the series, it’s believed to be that he’s “likely playing Mephisto.”
Obviously these reports aren’t a solid confirmation. However, it’s hard not to believe there’s some truth to them. As mentioned above, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been gradually expanding into more supernatural territory. Of course, that does make Ironheart a strange place to see the first appearance of Mephisto in the MCU. But given what we’ve seen happen with the intricate shared universe in the past, it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
With that in mind, this information should still be taken with a grain of salt. Especially since we’re still waiting to confirm if Sacha Baron Cohen really is involved with the project. Though it’s been reported he “has been spotted at the Marvel facilities located at UK’s Pinewood Studios” as well. So it’ll be interesting to see how this story develops.
