Henry Cavill Is Leaving ‘The Witcher’ And His Replacement Has Been Revealed

Fans are looking forward to having Henry Cavill back as Superman in the DC Universe. Unfortunately, for fans of The Witcher, it looks like Henry Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth for the fourth season of the hit series.

This news was shared by the official Twitter account for The Witcher. They revealed that while the series is returning for a fourth season, “Henry Cavill will be handing his swords to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after Season 3.” They further welcomed Liam Hemsworth to “the Witcher family.”

Star Henry Cavill also used his Instagram profile to share the news. He released a statement where he confirmed he’ll “be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.” Here’s his full statement regarding the Netflix series as shared below:

Additionally, star Liam Hemsworth shared his excitement for taking over the role. As such, he noted how much of a fan he is of actor Henry Cavill, and that he’s “over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia.” Here is his full statement:

It’s certainly been perplexing for fans of both The Witcher and the DCU to see how Henry Cavill would balance both projects. Now we know the answer – he’ll simply be leaving The Witcher behind. Nevertheless, Liam Hemsworth should be a great addition to the series and no doubt everyone’s excited to see what he can bring to the table.
