Keanu Reeves To Appear In ‘John Wick’ Spin-Off ‘Ballerina’ With Ana De Armas

The first John Wick film became such a surprising hit that it’s successfully launched its own franchise. Now with a string of sequels including the upcoming film John Wick: Chapter 4, the film will soon receive its first spin-off film. This particular film, Ballerina, will star Ana de Armas in the titular role. Excitingly, however, it’s just been revealed that Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane will reprise their John Wick roles to appear in Ballerina.

The news that Ian McShane would be appearing comes from The Wrap while Collider reported the involvement of Keanu Reeves. As such, it’s exciting to know that not only one – but two – stars from the John Wick film franchise will be appearing in this spin-off. It certainly helps present Ballerina as something from the same universe as John Wick. Of course, with Ballerina in the early stages of production, it’s unknown how much of a role Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane will be playing in the film. But with John Wick: Chapter 4 also on the way – fans will certainly have plenty of Keanu Reeves action to look forward to either way.

The upcoming film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas is currently being directed by Len Wiseman. The screenplay was penned by John Wick: Chapter 3 writer Shay Hatten. The plot for the film includes the following setup:

“Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.”

As for John: Wick Chapter 4, that upcoming film is currently being directed by filmmaker Chad Stahelski. He’s directing from a screenplay written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch.

The cast for the film will once again star the aforementioned Keanu Reeves, alongside returning cast members Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, as well as Rina Sawayama. The new cast members joining the film include Clancy Brown, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Scott Adkins.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently scheduled to be released on March 24, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding the expanding John Wick franchise as we have them.
