We’ve all been the victim of internet trolls – and that especially includes celebrities. Most recently, it appears that Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney was a victim in a rather upsetting way. But she’s taking the opportunity to fight back against the trolls as a result. As for what specifically happened to Sydney Sweeney, internet trolls took screenshots of her nude scenes from Euphoria and began tagging her family members on social media.
Now, while speaking with British GQ, Sydney Sweeney stated that her “cousins don’t need that.” She further noted that “it’s completely disgusting and unfair.” Sweeney further drew comparisons with her character in the show, explaining just how real-life mirrors the events that they depicted in Euphoria. As she explained, “you have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing.”
While that might scare off some people from doing such nude scenes – Sydney Sweeney claims she’ll only continue to do so. This is because, as she puts it, she wants to “piss people off more.” Here’s the full quote:
“I think it’s ridiculous. I’m an artist, I play characters. It makes me want to play characters that piss people off more.”
The interview further delves into Sweeney’s insecurities from childhood and how that’s motivated her to prove her worth. This led her to “play every sport” and that she “studied really hard,” all the things that “people wouldn’t think I would do,” just so that she could “show them that my body doesn’t define who I am.”
As such, in her effort to continue proving people wrong, it looks like Sydney Sweeney will continue to do what’s made her career so successful in the first place. It’s certainly an admirable fight against the trolls that took such disturbing actions in the first place.
