Actor Jeremy Renner was hospitalized earlier this year after a major snowplow accident. The actor suffered more than thirty broken bones. Fellow celebrity Jay Leno has also endured a few much less severe accidents in recent months. As a result, Jay Leno decided to make a joke out of Jeremy Renner and the snowplow which harmed him.
Naturally, however, Jay Leno’s joke did not go without backlash. Many fans have been showing their support for Jeremy Renner – especially given the severity of his injuries. As such, Jay Leno’s joke regarding the Avengers actor might not have been made in good taste.
Here’s what Leno had to say via Twitter, joking that he was the cause of Renner’s snowplow accident:
“I was riding my motorcycle up in Lake Tahoe,” he begins, “and I came around the corner and bam, I crashed into Jeremy Renner’s snowplow.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be as bad if Jay Leno had closer ties with Jeremy Renner. A joke between close friends is one thing. But considering that Leno has no real connection with Renner – the joke seems even more out of place. Of course, that’s also how the internet seems to operate these days. It’s just strange seeing a comedian – with his own streak of bad luck in recent months – making a joke at the expense of someone else who was in critical condition not too long ago.
