Black Panther Gets New Costume For Upcoming Reboot

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has two Black Panther movies under its belt – the comic book character is bigger than ever before. As such, Marvel is preparing to relaunch the brand with a brand-new Black Panther comic book run. And, fittingly enough, Black Panther will sport a brand-new costume for the series.

As shared via ComicBook, the new costume can be seen on Taurin Clarke’s cover for Black Panther #1. The look is also visible on artist Chris Allen’s design sheet. It’s an exciting new take on the character which is both familiar yet different. T’Challa can be seen sporting utility belts, a spear, and even a shoulder shield.

Additionally, series writer Eve L. Ewing spoke with NBC’s TODAY Show about the upcoming relaunch. She shared the following about the character’s new look:

“I am so excited for people to see this character design! T’Challa is going to be looking really different. It’s much more edgy and kind of homespun. It’s not so sleek and slick. Not giving too much away from the story, he’s trying not to be seen. He’s kind of working incognito,” Ewing began. “What I can say, honestly, is that we will be seeing Wakanda in a way that we have not seen it ever before.”

The new series will follow its titular character as he roams the streets of Wakanda. T’Challa’s Black Panther has become a fugitive in Wakanda – but he’s still on the prowl to deliver justice. As such, he has the new costume to help him with his current challenges.

Fans will be able to purchase Black Panther #1 when the book goes on sale in June. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Black Panther or Marvel updates as we have them. It’s certainly an exciting time to be a fan of the character.
