Netflix has just added a horror movie to its streaming service that has viewers freaking out. The 2016 horror movie, which itself was based on a viral internet short, is already becoming a hot topic of discussion on social media.
Many users are discussing the film and sharing how its concept left them “traumatized.” After all, with a plot that uniquely takes advantage of dark spaces, it isn’t hard to see why the film has hit such a strong note with viewers.
In addition to that strong reaction, there were some that even took the opportunity to warn viewers not to watch the horror movie, Lights Out, alone:
Lights Out (2016) – A terrific horror thriller with lot of eerie, scary and creepy scenes. Teresa Palmer performance is outstanding, fearful BGM and an interesting plot.

As mentioned, the 2016 horror film Lights Out was initially based on a very successful 2013 short film. It quickly went viral for its premise of a creature that can only be seen in the dark. And, at the flick of a light switch, the creature soon disappears. It introduced some rather haunting visuals into modern film iconography, and soon enough, an entire feature was greenlit.
David F. Sandberg directed Lights Out based on the success of his short film. Impressively, the film was actually his directorial debut, and he soon took on much larger projects. He directed the 2017 Conjuring spin-off Annabelle: Creation and later moved into the superhero genre. It was there that he directed both Shazam! and its recently-released sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
The screenplay for Lights Out, based on the 2013 short film, was penned by Eric Heisserer with Lawrence Grey, James Wan, and Heisserer having produced the film.
