Netflix Horror Series Leaves Viewers “Shaken” And “Terrified”

Though Netflix provides subscribers with new shows and films fairly frequently, many viewers have taken the opportunity to discover one of their shows released in 2022. In fact, as you can see below, these Netflix viewers are claiming to be left “terrified” over the “unsettling” horror series which includes James Wan as an executive producer.

It’s bittersweet, as Netflix did prematurely end the series, known as Archive 81, after only releasing its first season. But it’s nice to see that even a year later it’s managing to find an audience. Now, as noted by Reddit, some members of that audience are also being terrified.

One user, after sharing they’ve “been a fan of horror” since they were a “wee lad,” emphasizes how “shaken” they feel by Archive 81. The user continues to express how they’ll be losing sleep as a result of the show and that “it’s a really good adaptation of the podcast” that it’s based on. And while it is “a departure from the source material,” it “is unsettling.”

Many responses to the user’s initial post all seemed to agree – and they are certainly not the first people to be terrified of the series, as you can see below:

Of course, it’s disappointing that the series was cancelled, but it goes to show what a great story they had with the first season alone. The plot of the series revolves around two narratives stemming from archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie), who is hired to restore a collection of damaged videotapes. The tapes slowly uncover the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi) and the plot only spirals from there.

It’s an exciting story with plenty of twists and turns for viewers. Of course, many already know that, as the series is based on a popular podcast of the same name. Hopefully horror fans can continue experiencing this series, produced by Atomic Monster and Sonnenshine Productions, and the unique story it has to offer.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional horror updates or Netflix news as we have it. For now, horror fans can check out Archive 81 via Netflix.
