‘Spider-Man 3’ Resurfaced Photos Reveal Unused Black Suit

The Spider-Man movie franchise has blown up into numerous different continuities. At one point, however, Tobey Maguire‘s initial rendition of the character was considered the definitive Spider-Man. At least up until the release of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 which ended up being a very divisive entry in his otherwise acclaimed trilogy.

One aspect that fans seem to enjoy, however, is the addition of Peter Parker’s black symbiote suit. As you can see below, a series of photos have now resurfaced which reveal an unused suit from the film. The suit more closely resembles how it appears in the comics. This means that it’s all-black as opposed to having the webbing patterns. For its translation to live-action, however, it appears to have been considered too much like a “gimp suit.” Thus the webs were added back and the final suit was created.

Here are the photos of the unused black symbiote suit that was almost used in Spider-Man 3:

Interestingly, fans continued to call the suit a bad decision. As such, it seems like Sam Raimi and his team made the right decision by introducing the suit with webbing as we know it in the film. So, while Spider-Man 3 did make a lot of questionable decisions, it seems this wasn’t one of them. Hopefully more elements from the film can be reappraised by fans.

In fact, now is a better time than ever before, especially as Tobey Maguire recently made his return as Spider-Man. He appeared as a “variant” in the MCU movie Spider-Man: No Way Home where he fought alongside Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. And, according to other reports, it seems likely that it wasn’t the last of his character.
