Deadpool 3 is one of the most anticipated upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. The movie will not only unite Ryan Reynolds’ titular character with Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, but it’s expected that the film will have some pretty huge ramifications for the MCU as well. As such, a new rumor indicates that it might even introduce a new version of Wolverine for the MCU. Be warned, there are potential spoilers that follow.
Of course, this information should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially as the rumors indicate that Deadpool 3 will more or less tease the next Wolverine, rather than confirm who will tackle the role for later entries. Either way, it promises that Deadpool 3 will play an important part in setting the stage for the future.
The first rumor, shared via @TheComixKid on claims that fans will have “a good idea” regarding who will play the next Wolverine. Another insider, @CanWeGetToast, claims that the film ends with a scene featuring Deadpool and Wolverine as they eat pizza together.

And that’s not all, as another rumor from MyTimeToShineHello claims to reveal even more about the movie:
“In #Deadpool3 the hero will embark on a quest to find the perfect Wolverine throughout the multiverse. After encountering numerous variants played by different actors he ultimately concludes that Hugh Jackman cannot be recast.”

As mentioned, it looks like Deadpool 3 would merely set the stage for the next actor to tackle Wolverine in the MCU. Which, considering the film will still be focusing on Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine, that does make sense. Of course, given the ongoing strikes, it’s possible that all of these details are subject to change even if they were true. So we’ll really just have to wait and see what happens.
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux previously worked on the film’s screenplay.
The upcoming Marvel movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Brianna Hildebrand, and Shioli Kutsuna, in addition to returning cast members Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapicic and Rob Delaney. Newcomers include Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.
Deadpool 3 was previously scheduled to hit theaters with a May 3, 2024 release date.
