There are many iconic elements that make the 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre a true horror classic. This includes the iconic house in which most of the film is set. Now currently located in Kingsland, Texas, the house has more recently been serving as the home of the Grand Central Café restaurant. Sadly, it’s been revealed that not only has the location been sold, but that the iconic Texas Chain Saw Massacre house might even be torn down.
This was noted by actor Allen Danziger, known for having played the character Jerry in the original film. He shared as much on a social media post while promoting an event set at the iconic home on October 29. The event, as he calls it, is “The Last Curtain Call for Chainsaw.” In addition to his own appearance, a few of the other guests include Hitchhiker actor Ed Neil and Parrish Randell of Circus of the Dead fame. Indeed, it sounds like a once in a lifetime event regardless if the house is torn down or not.
Here’s what he had to say below regarding how the house was sold and that it “is possibly the last opportunity to enjoy the original movie on the grounds of the iconic house.”
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre house has been sold. Saturday, October 29 we will be celebrating Halloween at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre House in Kingsland. This is possibly the last opportunity to enjoy the original movie on the grounds of the iconic house.”
He continued to discuss the “FREE Event” and all of the fun features included:
“Join us for this FREE Event, featuring live music, food, drinks, a costume competition, and a special awards ceremony for Allen Danziger’s recent Best Supporting Actor award prior to the showing of the movie. Festivities start at 3 PM and the movie will begin at sundown, approximately 7 PM. Scheduled to appear will be the Hitchiker, Ed Neil, Jerry the Van Driver, Allen Danziger, and special guest Parrish Randell, Circus of the Dead.”
As for the bad news about the house, it’s rumored by Danziger that the new owners “may tear it down.” While this has yet to be confirmed, it’s certainly an upsetting possibility. Especially when you consider just how iconic this location from the immortal classic has become over the decades.
