In 2016, Donald Trump won the United States presidential election as the Republican nominee. He served as United States president for four years, until he lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden. Now, after having been impeached twice throughout his former presidency, it’s been revealed that Donald Trump has announced his presidential bid for 2024.
The announcement was previously teased throughout the last several months. Many suspected that he would be making his announcement today, however, after he previously revealed he’d be making an announcement at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. This was a surprising move because many political officials believed that Donald Trump should have withheld his presidential bid announcement until 2023.
Now, however, it looks like we won’t need to wait any longer to know his plan as Trump filed paperwork with the FEC declaring himself a candidate for the 2024 election. You can view his speech below.

Of course, Trump also has a number of legal battles attached to his name that should make this campaign quite complicated. With a number of lawsuits, allegations, and even criticism from his own former vice president, Mike Pence, it’s unclear just how successful this new campaign from Trump will be. He’s also been facing backlash from other Republicans following voters’ rejection of a variety of candidates for key races. Particularly because quite a few of these candidates were either endorsed or handpicked by Trump. As such, certain Republican party members want to move on from Trump altogether.
Additionally, Trump has been considered a key part in the January 6 United States Capitol attack. After a wide number of his supporters formed a mob to attack the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., Trump was blamed for having calling these supporters to action and even resisting to send the National Guard after them. With so much controversy surrounding Donald Trump, it will be fascinating to see him try for yet another presidential bid.
