After the return of characters like Daredevil and Kingpin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many fans have been hoping other such characters like The Punisher would be next. After all, Charlie Cox returned to portray Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio did the same for Kingpin. It would only be fitting, then, if Jon Bernthal could also return to once again play Frank Castle aka The Punisher. And, while the possibility for his return still hasn’t been confirmed, a new social media post does give some hope.
As you can see below, actor Kasey O’Keefe recently shared an Instagram post featuring Jon Bernthal. The two can be spotted together with a caption that O’Keefe wrote, explaining that he’s “looking forward to working with you During Marvel Phase 5!”, referring to Jon Bernthal. Of course, he doesn’t mention any specific projects but he did include “#Punisher” in the caption.
Although this should give hope to any fans hoping that a new Punisher announcement could be coming any day now – this should still be taken with a grain of salt.

It appears that Kasey O’Keefe tends to post selfies with a lot of celebrities. And, similarly, he expresses how much he looks forward to working with several of them. It seems very possible that O’Keefe is simply extending the same courtesy for Jon Bernthal without any foundation for a future Punisher project. So, with that in mind, it could certainly seem like there isn’t much weight to this post.
On the other hand, as mentioned above, we’ve seen several stars from Marvel’s Netflix era make a comeback. So with a little time, perhaps we’ll be seeing Jon Bernthal back as The Punisher someday. After all, his Netflix series is currently available to stream via Disney Plus. So we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
