Fans have been eager for more updates on Deadpool 3 and how exactly the highly-anticipated sequel will take characters from Fox’s X-Men films and place them in the MCU. Of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already been expanding their Multiverse concept over the last few years, and now it looks like their work is finally coming together.
A new rumor suggests that actor Owen Wilson, who played a part in the Disney Plus series Loki, will be reprising his role for Deadpool 3.
As it just so happens, Owen Wilson’s character Mobius M. Mobius is an agent for the Time Variance Authority. This seems to indicate that the organization, which spans across space and time, could very well be the reason that Deadpool crosses into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This rumor comes from insider Daniel Richtman who only claims that Owen Wilson will have a “big role” in the upcoming sequel.
Additionally, we also know that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be attached to the new film. Hugh Jackman broke the news that he’d be playing the part of Wolverine again following Logan only because he saw how much potential there was in a buddy cop styled film with Ryan Reynolds. With that in mind, though, they could both very easily cause some interesting problems for the TVA. So while it should be taken with a grain of salt, it does make a lot of sense that Owen Wilson could appear in Deadpool 3.
In the meantime though, we’ll just have to see how this rumor pans out. Deadpool 3 is certainly shaping up to be quite the sequel though, especially with the involvement of both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Although it’ll be a few years before the film hits theaters, let’s hope we have more official details soon.
Shawn Levy is set to direct Deadpool 3 from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux previously worked on the film’s screenplay.
