One Of HBO’s Most Popular Shows Is Coming To An End

Many streaming services these days are cancelling and greenlighting shows left and right. Furthermore, it seems more often than not that there’s no rhyme or reason for these decisions. Now HBO has taken the opportunity to end one of their most popular shows.

This news was first shared with the New Yorker by the show’s creator. As he explains, it wasn’t an easy decision. But as they began work on the show’s fourth season – it became clear that the end was in sight.

This statement was delivered by none other than Jesse Armstrong, the creator of Succession, who described the decision to have the HBO series end as follows:

“I went into the writing room for season four sort of saying, ‘I think this is what we’re doing, but let’s also keep it open,’” he began.

Armstrong continues:

“And the decision to end solidified through the writing and even when we started filming: I said to the cast, ‘I’m not a hundred per cent sure, but I think this is it.’ Because I didn’t want to bullshit them, either.”

As such, fans should expect to see Succession end with its upcoming fourth season. This will no doubt be disappointing news for fans of the television show. But if the show’s creator approves of this ending – then perhaps it’ll be for the best. We’ll just have to see how the story ends.

The main cast of the series is led by Brian Cox as Waystar RoyCo company owner Logan Roy. The show’s narrative surrounds Roy’s children as they prepare for the future of the company which includes Jeremy Strong as Kendall, Kieran Culkin as Roman, and Sarah Snook as Siobhan. Additionally, Alan Ruck plays the eldest child, Connor. The cast also includes Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, Hiam Abbass, Peter Friedman, Natalie Gold, and Rob Yang. A number of other characters have also been introduced throughout the show’s run, with several more appearing in the upcoming season.

The fourth season of Succession will premiere on March 26.
