Streaming has opened up plenty of possibilities for new television shows and movies. Unfortunately, it’s led to many cancellations as well. Now it’s been revealed that Showtime’s Let the Right One In series has been cancelled.
As shared via Deadline, this is the result of Showtime folding into Paramount Plus. Additionally, there are several other properties impacted by Showtime integrating into Paramount Plus as well.
This includes Three Women and American Gigolo. As for Three Women and Let the Right One In, however, producers are currently shopping both shows to other potential platforms. As such, there’s a possibility that Let the Right One In could be saved.
As for Showtime, here’s what they had to add:
“Paramount Global just announced that Showtime will be integrated into Paramount+ across both streaming and linear later this year.”
Seith Mann directed the pilot for the series in addition to a number of other episodes. The screenplay for the pilot was written by showrunner Andrew Hinderaker. The two also served as executive producers on the show.
The cast for the Let the Right One In series includes DemiĂ¡n Bichir, Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Madison Taylor Baez, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman and Jacob Buster.
The series is an adaptation of Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel of the same name. It was eventually adapted in 2008, also as Let the Right One In, before it was remade for American audiences as Let Me In. As such, there are plenty of fans of the property, and no doubt many of them are sad to see the series cancelled for now. It’s become quite a beloved example of storytelling in modern vampire lore.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them. For now, let’s hope that Let the Right One In can find a new home now that Showtime will be folded into Paramount Plus.
