Live-Action ‘Spider-Man’ Movie With Miles Morales In Development

The Spider-Man film franchise has been expanding with numerous spin-offs and stand-alone takes. Now it looks like a live-action Spider-Man film featuring Miles Morales is in development.

This was confirmed by producer Amy Pascal via Variety who was asked about such a project at the premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The Spider-Verse film is just the latest animated feature to revolve around Miles Morales. But it looks like they have plans to take the character into live-action.

Specifically, here’s what she had to say regarding the live-action Miles Morales Spider-Man project:

“It’s all happening.”

Obviously that’s not a lot, but she also teased a Spider-Woman movie will be coming “sooner than you expect.” She continued, “I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming.”

Of course, fans might also be eager to know when Tom Holland will be making his next outing as Spider-Man. Fortunately, that’s also in the works, but the ongoing writers strike has caused some delays.

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” Pascal says regarding the Tom Holland series. “We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

It’s clear that Sony has big plans for the Spider-Man film franchise going forward. They’ve successfully expanded the brand with a number of spin-offs, particularly those surrounding Venom, and now other projects including Madame Web are on the way. Now we’ll be getting other live-action projects involving Miles Morales and Spider-Woman to go along with the animated Spider-Verse projects.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Spider-Man news as we have it. For now, fans can look forward to seeing Miles Morales make his return with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The new animated film will be hitting theaters on June 2, 2023.
