New HBO Series Faces Criticism For Worst Sex Scene In History

The new HBO series The Idol has faced controversy throughout its production. Now, however, a sex scene featured in the show’s second episode is being called the worst in history by some. The aforementioned scene takes place with series stars Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye.

As noted by GQ Magazine, the scene is completely “unsexy.” It’s caused a lot of confusion among viewers. And, as you can see below, some have even taken to social media to complain about the sex scene between Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. In fact, considering the scene happens only in the show’s second episode, it’s certainly not a good sign for those hoping it would be something of a critical success.

Here are some of the responses to the scene on social media – as well as the scene itself:

Of course, being that this is only a scene from the second episode, it’s likely that viewers will have much more to criticize as the series continues its run. Many complaints regarding The Idol so far include its sexual content, script, and direction, so it’s possible that we’ll continue to see such topics of criticism on social media.

In addition to Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp, the series also stars Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, and Jane Adams. The cast of the series also includes Jennie Ruby Jane, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Moses Sumney, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Ramsey, Hank Azaria, and Melanie Liburd.

The 2023 HBO American drama television series was co-created by Sam Levinson, Reza Fahim, and Tesfaye.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding The Idol or its stars Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye as we have them. For now, it certainly isn’t looking good for the newly-released series. Especially given the efforts made by those involved to make it sexually appealing.
