Barbie is lighting up the box office this weekend and has been receiving pretty positive reviews for the most part. However, as with every movie, there are people who are not fans – and in the case of Barbie, there are some who are very passionate with their dislike of the film.
Some of the complaints geared against Barbie suggest that it is too “woke” and even go as far to call the movie “man-hating feminist trash”. Others, however, have praised the movie for its message of feminism and have called that a high point of the film.

Barbie was directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the movie’s script with her partner Noah Baumbach. Margot Robbie produced the film via LuckyChap along with Tom Ackerley. Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and David Heyman for Heyday Films are also producers. LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz are attached to the project as executive producers.
In addition to Margot Robbie starring as the titular Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the movie’s ensemble cast also includes Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Hari Nef, and Will Ferrell.
Barbie is currently playing in theaters everywhere.
