Controversial 2023 Horror Movie Is Now Streaming On Hulu

Hulu is offering subscribers the opportunity to watch one of the most controversial horror movies of 2023. Of course, given the film’s reputation, there are no doubt going to be some mixed feelings from viewers.

Many horror films can cause division in an audience. For this particular horror movie, however, its approach was so experimental that the division was super apparent. Critics were appreciative of the film’s unique style but many average moviegoers were displeased with the unexpected direction.

This film is none other than Skinamarink. Horror fans may already recognize the film by name. Though many of these viewers believe the film to be “boring,” others feel that it’s incredibly unnerving. The film takes an unexpected approach by focusing more on atmosphere than any structural narrative. As such, some users believe the film is much more malevolent than it really is, while others found it to be cheap.

Either way, the film is a brilliant display of micro-budget filmmaking. The budget of the film was only $15,000. It then became a box office success by grossing more than $2 million. In the tradition set by films like The Blair Witch Project, it’s clear that Skinamarink is a success no matter how you look at it.

As such, the film being easily accessible via Hulu should give anyone the chance to view the film or give it a second chance. If not because some viewers do enjoy it – then to see what’s possible on an incredibly small budget. Overall, it goes to show just how far a little creativity can go.

The film was both written and directed by Kyle Edward Ball. The cast of the film includes Lucas Paul, Dali Rose Tetreault, Ross Paul, and Jaime Hill.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional horror film news as we have it. For now, the horror film Skinamarink is available via Hulu.
