Netflix has been entertaining viewers with a brand-new reality TV series titled Zombieverse. As the title suggests, the series puts participants into a real-world recreation of what a zombie apocalypse could be like. Now we’ve explained whether or not Zombieverse is actually scripted.
Let’s begin with Netflix’s official description for Zombieverse. They state that “Zombieverse sets itself apart from traditional shows by placing its participants in the midst of a real-life zombie apocalypse, where every move, decision, and survival tactic is unscripted.” The description continues:
“This fresh approach to the genre guarantees an exhilarating and unpredictable viewing experience, blurring the lines between fiction and reality. As the cast navigates the post-apocalyptic world, viewers will be enthralled by the authentic reactions and genuine emotions, making Zombieverse a true test of survival instincts.”
Obviously, in order to create these scenarios, some actors have to be aware of what’s going on and how to move participants from one quest to the next. It’s also clear that some of these celebrities, which include both notable K-Pop stars and YouTube creators, have some understanding of what’s going on. But it’s likely that some of their reactions are also based on the uncertainty of what’s going to happen next. So, yes, it’s unscripted until it’s not.
Either way, it’s a fun take on an interesting concept, as many audiences love the zombie genre. So not only are we seeing people have relatively real reactions to these situations – but they’re notable people as well. Hopefully the series continues to bring in good numbers for the streaming service. With both notable celebrities and normal actors in the mix, it’s a nicely varied series with moments featuring both scares and levity.
