Filmmaker David Fincher is back with a brand-new thriller titled The Killer. Now the first official trailer has been revealed for the Netflix movie The Killer which stars both Michael Fassbender and Charles Parnell.
For fans of Fincher, however, they know just how long this film has been in the making. The rights to the project were initially acquired by Paramount Pictures as far back as 2007. It was then that Fincher was originally announced to direct. Now, close to two decades later, fans will finally get to see Fincher’s vision for the material.
Interestingly, this is only the latest example of Fincher’s work with Netflix. He previously executive produced the two television shows House of Cards and Mindhunter which have become some of the most celebrated projects available on the service. Additionally, Netflix includes Fincher’s previous feature film titled Mank, which was a biographical drama film about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and how he developed the screenplay for the iconic 1941 movie Citizen Kane.

The premise for the film is as follows:
“After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers and himself on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.”
David Fincher directed the film from a screenplay penned by screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. Fans of Fincher will remember Walker for having written the screenplay of Fight Club. The film itself is based on a French graphic novel series created by Alexis Nolent.
In addition to Fassbender and Parnell, the cast of the film includes Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard, and Sophie Charlotte.
The Killer is set to be released in select theaters on October 28, 2023. Fans will then be able to stream the new film via Netflix on November 10, 2023.
