The Marvel Cinematic Universe will once again be exploring the character Daredevil with the upcoming Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again. The new series will take place after the events of Netflix’s Daredevil series. As such, many fans expect the new Disney Plus series to be much more connected to the MCU than ever before. Now a new rumor suggests that Daredevil: Born Again might even go as far as to introduce Jenna Ortega as White Tiger.
This rumor was first reported via GFR. Additionally, Murphy’s Multiverse also confirmed they heard reports of White Tiger being included in Daredevil: Born Again, though they were not told of any casting details. As such, this information should still be taken with a grain of salt. But it certainly wouldn’t be a stretch to see Marvel want to expand their roster of street-level heroes with such a character as White Tiger. Especially as they continue setting their focus on diversity. Additionally, it also wouldn’t be the first time that Jenna Ortega appeared within the MCU.
Jenna Ortega previously appeared in the 2013 film Iron Man 3 as Vice President Rodriguez’s daughter. Of course, if Jenna Ortega appears in Daredevil: Born Again as White Tiger, it’s more than likely that the two characters will remain separate. In the comics, White Tiger was often a title used by several different characters over the years. However, Daredevil namely had ties with only two versions – Hector Ayala and Angela del Toro. So, if Jenna Ortega were to be involved, then she’d likely be Angela del Toro. She initially investigates Daredevil as part of the FBI, but after being transformed into White Tiger from an amulet, Daredevil ultimately teaches her how to be a vigilante. It’s very possible that the series could adapt these plot lines if these rumors are true.
As such, we’ll have to see how this series pans out. With eighteen episodes for its first season, there will certainly be plenty of ground to cover. And, knowing how Disney Plus has operated so far, there will be plenty of room for other characters to be introduced and other spin-offs to be announced.
