Netflix Has Canceled Two Of Their Top 10 Shows

As a streaming service, Netflix has offered its subscribers plenty of choices for entertainment over the years. Of course, as the streaming landscape evolves, and competitors join the fray, they’ve become much more unpredictable with their curation. For example, it seems like just about any show has the potential to be canceled on the spot. And, as it turns out, Netflix just canceled two of their Top 10 shows before they even made it past the first season.

This news comes via Deadline, where they revealed that “Netflix has opted not to proceed with second seasons of legal drama Partner Track, headlined by Arden Cho, and sci-fi drama The Imperfects, starring Italia Ricci.” While they did note that “neither series has been a breakout,” both of the shows did reach the Top 10 mark on Netflix. Specifically, Partner Track had 16.7 million minutes viewed during its opening weekend and peaked at the Number 4 spot on Netflix’s Weekly Top 10 for English-language series. Likewise, The Imperfects managed to open at the Number 3 spot during its debut weekend and soon tumbled downward.

Obviously Netflix’s expectations for shows are to do much better with ratings than these managed to. So, as mentioned, Netflix decided the best decision was simply to have both of the shows canceled. This is certainly disappointing news for any fans that the shows may have earned over their debuts – but it might not be surprising at this point. After all, streaming services have become especially brutal when it comes to canceling projects. In fact, there’s quite a few major projects that have been canceled after being produced but before their debut. So at this point, nothing appears to be safe.

Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding Netflix and its many projects as we have them. Although major flagship titles like Stranger Things appear to be safe for now, that particular show is already being designed with an end in mind. The fifth season will be the last – though, as of this writing, a spin-off series is in the works. As such, it’ll be interesting to see which titles Netflix continues to explore for its service and which ones will be axed.

Fans can currently still view the inaugural seasons of both Partner Track and The Imperfects on Netflix.
