“Cancel Disney Plus” Trends As Prices Increase For Streaming Service

Disney Plus was initially a fan-favorite streaming service when it first launched in 2019. The pandemic which began the following year also helped catapult its popularity as families had to stay home. Now, however, price increases have driven the phrase “Cancel Disney Plus” to trend online.

As noted by Yahoo via NoDeposit.guide, “the phrase has seen a 510% increase since the announcement.” This has led to many social media users sharing similar sentiments as they prepare to cancel their subscriptions.

Here are some of the responses made about the “Cancel Disney Plus” trend that have been shared via social media:

It’s worth noting that some users simply feel they don’t use the service that much to begin with. As such, it isn’t too surprising that they wouldn’t want to stick around after a major price increase. Disney’s also made it clear that they want to slow down on producing expensive live-action content like their Marvel and Star Wars shows that have become so costly over the years. Obviously none of this makes it clear what’s next for the streaming service if they want to continue growing or even keep subscribers onboard.

The streaming industry in general has become quite unpredictable in recent years. Many studios launched their own services in an effort to compete with one another for what they thought would be the next big thing. But now services are being closed down or merged into one another in an effort to save on costs. With some of the biggest contenders like Netflix even making surprising choices to compete and save money, it’s clear that streaming isn’t the perfect avenue as many previously thought.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them. It’s unknown what kind of impact these reactions could have for Disney and Disney Plus – if any – but it’s clear that subscribers aren’t happy with the announcement.
