Stephen King Issues Warning For His New Book

Stephen King has been shocking, stunning, and horrifying readers for decades. Many of his books have become recognized as distinct classics in the genre. Now Stephen King has offered a brand-new warning for his “Constant Readers” regarding his latest book.

The new book, titled Holly, is set to be released this month. And while King has been releasing more mild content in recent years, it looks like Holly will be a return to his horror roots. This is evident in the warning that he just issued for his new book.

Here’s what Stephen King wrote regarding the new book:

“My new novel, HOLLY, is published on September 5th,” he begins. “Warning: There are a few fairly gruesome scenes.”

It’s a brief warning but one that fans of the IT author will no doubt trust. After all, Misery is one example of a book with “fairly gruesome scenes” that have stuck with fans for years now. One only needs to remember Annie Wilkes’ use of “hobbling” to make sure her favorite author couldn’t leave his bed.

Everyone who’s seen the film might recall the moment where Annie breaks Paul Sheldon’s ankles with a hammer. Notably, however, King’s book was even gorier than its film counterpart. Annie outright amputated Paul’s foot. It’s proof that King’s text can often be much more gruesome and violent than even what a live-action film could offer.

As such, one can imagine that King will certainly live up to the warning for Holly. Fortunately, with the September 5 release date, fans won’t have much longer to find out either way. Hopefully it’s an exciting return for King as he goes back to his horror roots. With so many books and new adaptations on the way, including Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, it’s a great time to be a fan.
