‘Toy Story 5’ Faces Backlash Over Potential Character Return

Pixar‘s Toy Story movie franchise is returning for Toy Story 5. The announcement was made earlier this year to mixed responses. After all, many fans felt the story already concluded with Toy Story 3, and that Toy Story 4 was a step too far. According to a new rumor, however, Toy Story 5 is pushing fans even further over the edge.

It’s been reported via The Disinsider that one of the rumors surrounding the film is that Andy, the original owner of the toys, is coming back. He originally left the toys with a new owner, Bonnie, at the end of Toy Story 3. And it was with her that their additional adventures in Toy Story 4 began. Naturally, however, some fans feel that Andy shouldn’t come back and thus the backlash has started.

As you can see below, many users have shared their thoughts about Andy’s potential return on social media. And while some wouldn’t mind the nostalgia that’d come with seeing the character again, others think it would just be too much. Especially when he already said his goodbyes in Toy Story 3.

Here are the complaints:

Of course, these are only rumors at this point. It’s possible that Andy won’t be involved in Toy Story 5 at all. It’s far too early in the film’s development to know for certain and we’ll just have to wait until more concrete details are released. In the meantime, fans certainly aren’t going to go easy on this film. If Disney and Pixar want Toy Story 5 to succeed – then they’ll have to work incredibly hard at delivering a stellar movie.

What we do know is that both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are expected to return as the voices of Woody and Buzz, respectively. The film itself is scheduled for a 2025 release date.
